These 5 tips can help ensure that you don’t put on those extra pounds during the winter holidays:
1. Watch out for oversized plates when eating out
The holidays is a prime time ot go out to eat, but beware of the oversized portions! Order an appetizer for yourself instead, or box up half of your meal to take home before you even start eating it.
2. Drink Smart
Yes, we all love to bundle up in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate, coffee, egg nog, cappuccino, etc…, but this holiday try to drink more water! It’s okay to treat yourself every once in a while, but try to swap out that latte for a glass or two of water this winter.
3. Stressed out from school, work or, let’s face it, all your family being together this Christmas?
Don’t relieve your stress by pigging out, instead go for a walk! Statistics show that walking is one of the best ways to stay fit.
4. Try to skip the sugar
Don’t bake all those cookies and pies this holiday. If you don’t have them out to eat, you won’t be tempted to eat the whole plate’s worth. But what if you like to bake? Well, then you can bake all you want and then donate the goodies to a food shelter, or give them to family and friends.
5. Find some time for exercising
Sure, you might not have as much time because of shopping, family…you name it. So work with the time you have! If you really do have little time then just go for a walk, do some jumping jacks, anything that gets your body moving. It doesn’t have to be an hour long intense gym session.
