Waking up in the morning even for a 10 A.M class feels like torture, which is often the reason why so many of us make it our point to schedule classes that start as early as noon. It’s sad, noon being the earliest we collegiettes want to get up in the morning, when an eight to five job is just around the corner. The semester is coming to its end, and as we get back from Thanksgiving break it’s only a matter of weeks until we must conquer finals week. The end of the semester not only means tests and hours spent with Homer, but it also means lack of motivation and caring for what we look like Monday through Friday. Don’t fret girls, getting ready in 10 minutes or less is definitely more doable than many of you, who haven’t experienced this excitement, may think. I have a few tricks that get me out the door quick, without feeling totally down about how I look. Just because you are short on time, doesn’t mean you have to look like you literally rolled out of bed.

1. Try to get in the habit of picking out an outfit the night before. As you’re doing your nightly beauty regime, open up your closet, check your weather app, and pick out something ready to wear for tomorrow. This saves tons of A.M time and reduces that “I have nothing to wear” feeling like you wouldn’t believe. But, if you lack motivation or time to prepare the night before, a never fail outfit, that we all have; a UConn sweatshirt, skinny jeans, and boots (not of the UGG variety).

2. Know your face. By now, you should probably have that favorite blush, lip gloss, and mascara in your makeup bag. When you’re low on time, splash some cold water on your face to wake up your skin while avoiding making it red from hot water. Cover your face in your go-to powder or blush, and only use mascara and an eye lash curler to make your eyes look done up. Lastly, adding lip gloss makes all the difference, and brings attention to an area you don’t mind showing off. If you didn’t use blush, gloss also adds color to your face.

3. Be quick with your hair. Unless you have naturally straight hair that just does its thing, or wake up with naturally styled hair, you’re lucky, and can avoid the messy up do. The top knot is really popular, chic, and simple, so learn how to twist your hair up into a messy top knot or pony tail. Keep it simple, and quick.

4. Eat on the go. It never fails, that the day you wake up late, is the day your stomach is growling for breakfast and a coffee. Grab a granola bar or piece of fruit and eat on your way to class. This has become my routine lately; always have your favorite granola bars on hand. It’s a great dorm or apartment food.
