On Saturday October 27, many Conn students made use of the beautiful weather and headed down to the Arbo to enjoy a bluegrass concert. The concert was hosted by the class of 2014 class council and took place from 2pm until 4pm.
The headlining act was The Deliberators, a bluegrass band based out of Brooklyn, New York. Three other student bands also performed, including Joe Collier Gray, Camp, and Well Known Drags. Students in attendance enjoyed free apple cider, food and lots of dancing.
The event’s venue also made it a unique opportunity for student performers. There are lots of student bands and performance opportunities on campus, but outdoor events are rare. “We need to take potential of the outside. I was glad to see that happen before I graduated and because we don’t have enough concert events on our campus and I’d like to see that happen more often,” said Liz de Lise ’13, a member of the student band Camp.
Overall, the event was a relaxed, fun and unique experience for all involved. Grace Juster ’16 couldn’t agree more with de Lise that these types of concerts are an asset to the campus weekend scene: “It was a really great way to bring the college community together in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I wish it could happen every Saturday,” she said.
Her Campus was not able to confirm whether there is potential for more concerts of this type in the near future, but we hope there will be!
