Hurricane Sandy: Just when we thought hurricane season was over, one seems to be moving up the Atlantic coast and is expected to make landfall over the New York-New Jersey area. Being from Long Island myself, I thought I’d be the first of my friends and family to experience hurricanes, but as “Sandy” heads north it looks like it will be hitting not only my hometown, but much of the coastal northeast region. The National Weather Service predicts that by the time it hits land it will have downgraded to a tropical storm, but can we be too cautious? Wasn’t Issac a tropical storm, too? Either way, from all of us down here that know what it’s like, we wish safety to all of those that will be in Sandy’s way this coming Monday.
Donald Trump’s Proposal: Donald Trump recorded a video in his office outlining a new proposal to current president Barack Obama. If he agrees to release his college and passport records, Trump would donate $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choice within an hour of the released information. Obama responded to the proposition on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno making a joke about him and Mr. Trump growing up together in Kenya. Whether or not this means Obama has chosen to deny the offer remains to be seen. Trump gave the President until 5 pm on Halloween to make his decision. Meanwhile, celebrities have rallied behind Obama on Twitter. Adam Levine tweeted, “Will someone tell Donald Trump we don’t live in Gotham City?” Who knows what will come of Trump’s video, but since its release on Wednesday, the rich businessman has gotten a lot of attention.
Celebrity Weddings: In entertainment news, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were married in Italy this past Friday. Justin Timberlake wrote Biel a song that he sang for her on the special evening. The ceremony was small, with only 100 guests, who were invited to spend the week with the couple in Italy before the actual ceremony. The couple released photos and more information to the public via People Magazine, which features the newlyweds on the cover of its most recent issue. The couple commented that the wedding was a “total fantasy experience.”
