Are you looking for a new student organization to join this year? Then look no further than TU Thinks Pink! The groups mission is “To raise awareness and support those affected by breast cancer through campus wide fundraising events.” One in eight women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime, but those affected far exceeds this statistic. Which is why you should help in the groups’ efforts!
The group has paricipated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk and conducts fundraisers and events all year long.
They have already hosted a Pink Lemonade fundraiser and a Sweet Frog fundraiser. The popular “Pretty In Pink” event gave women the chance to get their hair and makeup done in pink. You may have noticed women walking around campus with pink stripes in their hair, that was the work of TU Thinks Pink.
You can still order a t-shirt that the group ordered for the walk. The shirts provided a sense of unity among the group. The shirts for guys have cute sayings such as “I’m tough, but she’s tougher”, and “I stare because I care.”
The group has not stopped their efforts since the walk. Although October is “Breast Cancer Month”, it is important to note that those affected by breast cancer, live with it every single day. This is why TU Thinks Pink will be hosting events all throughout the year, so maybe one day there will be a cure.
Make sure you check out the Her Campus and TU Thinks Pink informational tabling in the Union on October 22 and 24 from 10 am to 4 pm.
