Yes, the stereotypical sexy nurse or sexy witch costume is easy to buy, but get creative, y’all! Halloween is the one day each year when it is socially acceptable to dress up as whoever or whatever you want. The more unique the costume is, the better. It’s easy to spend some money for a rented, used costume, but the real crowd pleaser is always the homemade costume.

If you are unsure of what to dress up as, think of your favorite movies, animals, TV shows, books, etc.

Do you collect anything? Who is your favorite Disney princess? Who or what is the biggest Internet sensation?

Step 2:
Look in your closet and assess what you have versus what you want to be for Halloween. Then take a trip to Goodwill or Hobby Lobby and get workin’.
Or, if you decide to rent a costume, there are many options for you at downtown stores, such as Maude Vintage, Leo’s, Gotcha, etc. There’s nothing wrong with renting a costume! Just be sure that you decide early to find your preferred costume (and one without the mystery stains).
Step 3:
Plan ahead! If your look is going to require hours of make-up application to accomplish, make sure you have time and are skilled enough to do it. It’s never fun to come up with a great idea then not be able to pull through due to a time constraint. While resorting to showing up in a white sheet is cute, it’s also total cop-out (unless you work it).
