Rock the Vote will be returning to campus October 16 for an outdoor event on the North End of East Campus mall, from 1 to 5 PM.
Rock the Vote uses music, culture, celebrity Ambassadors, and new technologies to mobilize young people to vote and participate in elections. Generation Y (that’s us) will make up ¼ of the electorate votes this year, which gives young people immense power to shape this election. Rock the Vote appears at popular music festivals, such as Lollapalooza, the Vans Warped Tour, and toured with Blink 182 this past summer. Rock the Vote’s upcoming visit to our campus will mark the third time the group has visited UW during an election, and representatives urge Madison students to become invigorated, not disinterested, by the current political status quo and create change.
“This is both the challenge and the opportunity,” according to the group. “Our goal is to reinvigorate our country’s democracy and redefine citizenship for a generation in 2012 and beyond.”
