Toga is a dance held at Oxy every year and is one of the most-looked forward to events. This year, the dance is scheduled to be on October 20th, which gives the students plenty of time to run out to Joanne’s (the local fabric store) and snag some fabric. A lot of people find creative ways to tie their toga, but usually people go for the one-shoulder style. Unfortunately, the togas that were carefully tied on end up getting ruined at the end of the night. However, the one shoulder trend is still very relevant! So for everyone that is going to Toga, enjoy and have fun!! Though there are many links that provide useful advice on how to assemble a toga, here are some tips on how to transition that one shoulder style into your wardrobe (:
- If you’re intimidated by the trend, choose a solid color one-shoulder piece that can be accessorized.
- Show off your shoulders, don’t cover it up! If you’re cold, layer it with an open cardigan…but remember that your dress or top is called “one-shoulder” for a reason!
- Try on as many options as you can because all one-shoulder items can fit differently. Some may make you look amazing and others may make you feel uncomfortable. So take your time to choose the right item for you from the single spaghetti strap with the long flowing sleeve or the classic Greek style with one bare shoulder. Consider your choices!
- With the one-shoulder style, you need a strapless bra or a bandeau or maybe both! The look emphasizes the shoulders so be mindful when choosing what you wear under your dress or top.
- Then go ahead and belt it! This will help you showcase your waist and help you avoid the frumpy look.Â
Will you dare to try this TOGA-inspired look in your everyday wardrobe?
