Nail Tutorials: Dotted V’s

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CMU chapter.

This design was inspired by a design by Little nails.  Be sure to check it out!

I think it’s a great simple design for fall! However, I wanted to put my own spin on it, so I decided to switch the colors on the thumb and ring finger.

Dotted V’s

What you’ll need:

  • Nail polish: a base color and two colors for the design. I used American Apparel in Office, Wet ‘n Wild in Blue Moon, and Essie in Over the Top.
  • A thin brush for the lines (if you don’t have one, you can trim down an old makeup brush or buy a nail polish with a striping brush)
  • A dotting tool

How to do it:

1) Paint on your base color and let it dry.  Be sure to check out my tips for getting a great base coat if you haven’t seen them yet!

2) With your thin brush, paint Vs on your pinky, middle, and pointer fingers with your first color.

3) Clean your brush and paint Vs on your ring finger and thumb with your second color. Let it all dry!

4) Grab your dotting tool! Put dots at the corners of each V, using the opposite color.

One it’s dry, seal it in with a topcoat, and you’re done!
