Rosie on Romance: Hey I Just Met You…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northwestern chapter.

College can be an overwhelming scene for everyone (freshmen and seniors alike) to find friends who you can click with, let alone guys. But with these tips on three different locales to zero in on based on your own personality, you might just have a guy calling you by the end of the week—maybe.

The Intellectual

If you’re often impressed by a guy who spews technological jargon, or puts up a good fight during playful banter, then you’re most likely to meet your match in class. You can rest assured that you’ll never run out of things to talk about with your classmate crush and he’d be able to understand your passions, be it Shakespeare or coding. Might I also suggest that as opposed to choosing a mammoth sized class like Morson’s Russian Lit or a guy gathering class like EECS, pick a class you’re interested in and you’re more likely to find someone who shares your intellectual fancies. After all, every major has cuties to be proud of.

The Social Butterfly

If you’re in search of a spontaneous, outgoing fellow who could make you laugh, then turn your sights to the parties. Guys you meet there will most likely be either frat guys, who by definition enjoy being social, or just guys who don’t like being cooped up doing homework on a Friday night. As social butterflies themselves, they would never abandon their friends and would not expect you to do the same even if you enter a relationship. And one thing’s for sure—you can count on your dates to always be adventurous and never dull.

The Private

Some timid ladies, tend to feel nervous about diving into dates without first knowing a guy better. If this is you, the best place to find your guy would be in your dorm. Living with these guys will give you a window into their private lives, their downtime when they’re not intoxicated or trying to impress a professor. Getting to know him in an intimate setting means you’d be able to be very honest with each other and can be yourself around him if you choose enter a relationship. And hey, if he still likes you without your makeup on, you know he’s a keeper.

Ultimately, the best way to meet your future romance is to take advantage of this fresh, albeit chilly, new start and be bold, like the song and just give him your number. After all, every new relationship must start with a hello!
