As the weather begins to get a bit chillier this fall, many of you may be lamenting the loss of cute summer dresses and flip-flops. But … with new weather comes a new wardrobe, and the cold seems to be especially conducive to chic accessories! Check out Her Campus Duke’s favorite fall accessories:
– Scarves.
There is no way you can go wrong with big, fuzzy, pretty, colorful scarves. Not only do they keep you warm, they also immediately make a seemingly boring outfit chic and dynamic.
Colorful scarves offer an effortless boost to plain attire. Add a couple of patterned or bright scarves to your accessory bin, and you instantly have the ability to transform a bland outfit into an interesting ensemble. Pair a bright scarf with a black dress and boots. Or, throw a monstrosity of a scarf around your neck with a pair of skinny jeans (I’m using the term monstrosity loosely – you know what I mean).
– BOOTS.
Boots… You know, they say variety is the spice of life. Ipso facto, boots are the spice of life. Cold weather means it’s boots time and there is a pair out there for everyone (and multiple pairs for some).
Try adding a buckle to keep things interesting. Or go for a shorter boot with a heel as a going-out alternative to the same old pair of heels.

– Dramatic Necklace.
Cold weather often means thicker sweaters, longer sleeves, and less variety in the “top” arena. Fix this with a dramatic necklace. A statement piece, if you will. Check out this fashionologie for some ideas!
