Ali Leist, a sophomore at the University of South Florida, is majoring in mass communications with a magazine journalism sequence. A Tampa native, Leist decided to stay local after realizing that she didn’t want to go to the University of Florida after visiting the campus. Her future plan is to write for a magazine. In her opinion, a perfect world will be writing freelance or have the ability to write from home and still make a decent living. After college, Leist will be traveling with her boyfriend, as he is in the coast guard, and hopes to find a job that will allow her to write from anywhere. Today’s technology would allow for her to write from anywhere, but the current job market is a different story.
Leist’s celebrity crush is Channing Tatum and she likes him for the charm he has in every movie. In her eyes, he doesn’t seem arrogant and he’s always a major sweetheart. Her favorite movie featuring Channing Tatum is The Vow because of his co-star, Rachel McAdams. In her eyes, they are the perfect couple because she is Leist’s favorite actress. Her all time favorite movie is The Notebook. She loves the idea that true love never dies and the era that the movie takes place in when they are young is one of her favorites.
In her spare time, Leist likes to play volleyball, run and write for her blog. She is currently training for a 5K marathon and The Color Run. While she is running, she has a playlist called “Workout,” which is literally every upbeat song from her collection of music. Some of her favorites include: “Firework” by Katy Perry, “How I Roll” by Britney Spears, “Sexy And I Know It” by LMAFO, “Showstopper: by Toby Mac and “We Run The Night” by Havana Brown. Leist’s favorite music artist is Katy Perry. She loves every song that she sings and she fell in love with Katy Perry’s story that she shares through her music. Leist finds all her music is very upbeat, which she enjoys and she loves songs that make “a great jam session” in the car.
She is involved with Her Campus and is planning on doing intramural volleyball. Her favorite dessert is froyo. She doesn’t feel guilty for eating the yummy dessert and in her opinion, “Yogurt shops are fun!” Leist’s major achievement was when she made the Dean’s List during her freshman year. The one thing she wants to do before she dies is to be published in a national magazine or newspaper.
