Top 9 Fall Shows to Watch for: The New and The Old

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mercer chapter.

The fall line up for this year is extensive and intriguing, along with some old favorites there are some new kids on the block. Four new shows to watch out for are:

1) Beauty and the Beast – This CW show is a loosely based spin off the CBS 1980’s version with the same name. The show follows a young detective on her quest to find answers about her twisted past and mysterious savior. Check out the premier Thursday, October 11 at 9pm.

2) Elementary – Based on the Sherlock Holmes detective stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Here Holmes is portrayed as an ex-consultant for Scotland Yard and an addict that now lives in New York with his companion Dr. Joan Watson. The CBS show is set to primer Tuesday, September 25 at 10pm.

3) The Mindy Project – An America Based Sitcom following the life of a unique, single doctor as she tries to navigate her way through both her personal and professional life. This Fox program is set to premiere Tuesday, September 25 at 9:30pm.

4) Revelation – A NBC science fiction show following several individuals attempts to set the world right in a post-apocalyptic America. This show resembles a mash up of Lost and Warehouse 13, and premieres Monday, September 17 at 10pm

Some old returning favorites:
1) Once Upon a Time – ABC favorite begins the second season on Sunday, September 30 at 8pm. I can only guess that the show will be picking up with all the changing rules, assuming everyone remembers who they are, after the magic was released into the world in season one’s finale. I suggest that if you have not seen the first season that you start right away, words can describe the mind blowing fantasy world that the cast, writers, and director have manage to create.

2) Supernatural – The CW tailspin of a show picks up on Wednesday, October 3 at 9pm. Fans are hoping that all wrong is set right after the shocking seventh season finale where Dean and Castel were sent to purgatory and Sam was left behind after killing Dick Roman. Sadly though Ghost Bobby crossed over into the afterlife. Yet even worse than all of that the Impala (Dean’s beautiful car) returned and is broken…again.

3) Glee – Returns full force to Fox on Thursday, September 13 at 9. Season 3 finale left everyone with a puddle of muddled questions, it was filled with plot twist and unseen surprises. From Rachel and Finn’s break up to Brittany S. Pierce’s 0.0 GPA keeping her in high school. With out a doubt with new and old cast members entering from stage left, right, and center this season is going to be an interesting mix of personalities.

4) America Horror Story – Starts up the second season with new and old characters in renewed roles and answering questions left from the first season’s finale. Starting up Wednesday, October 17 at 10pm.

5) 30 Rock –  This hilarious NBC sitcom sadly starts up the last season on Thursday, October 4 at 8pm. Hopefully by the end of its eighth season Liz Lemon will end up happy, one can only hope. Whatever her out come maybe this show always promises to be too funny for words.

Whither you’re checking out a new show are an old favorite there is no doubt in my mind that this season shows are promising entertainment.
