I absolutely love painting my nails. It’s a habit that I’ve grown to really indulge in since I moved away for school last fall. I find it calming, relaxing, and a ton of fun. When you get a manicure in a salon they sometimes do a cute little design on one nail, but when you paint your own nails you can do whatever you want. Plus, when you paint your own nails you can spend money on new polish instead of the process, and then you get to keep the color(s) once you’re done!
Picking out new colors is one of the best things in the world. I get to walk into a store and look at isles of colors and choose the ones that will feed the look I’m trying to achieve. Personally, I love different brands for different things (such as base coats, color, and topcoats), but one of my favorite brands has always been OPI. I find that the strokes go on so evenly and that the color always comes out glossy—often times I get compliments that they look professionally done when I’m wearing this polish!
I’m so excited because this weekend they are launching their Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012 and I had the opportunity to test drive these colors the past few weeks. I’m a pretty tough critic when it comes to nail polish, but my friends and I have nothing but great things to say about this Berlin inspired line. Going to a fashion school, it was easy to realize that the color story was inspired by upcoming runway trends. The 12 colors are a mix of vibrant color, amazing neutrals, and different variations of reds. Any of these colors are sure to make your nails really “wow” others in class and most certainly at your Her Campus meetings ;).
While you’re going to have to hit the stores to check out the 12 dazzling colors yourself, I’ll give you a little insight on what the collection has to offer. I’ve been looking for an almost black color for quite some time and Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! fit this bill quite perfectly. It’s nearly black and is a beautiful solid. With a glossy topcoat you are sure to feel like a lady! My personal favorite is My Very First Knockwurst—it’s a gorgeous rosy-nude that I’m for sure going to be sporting all fall. Finally, one of my absolute favorites is Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs, which is a stunning bright purple. I must admit that the rest of the collection is to-die-for.
Make sure to head out this weekend and check the collection out for youself! You can also find an additional 6 colors exclusively at Target. I’m excited to hear what your favorite colors are, so make sure to sound off in the comments below!
