With hands and feet on full display this time of year, nail polish is one of your most noticeable accessories. While some may not consider nail polish to be trendy, there are certain colors that are appropriate for each time of year. Not only is it important to stay in tune with clothing trends for each season, but also for popular nail polish shades that come with each season’s fashions.
Whenever I have time to get an oh-so-relaxing mani-pedi, I find myself asking whomever I am with, “Is this a good summer color?” And it’s true. Each season has its own color palette for nail wear.
When summer arrives, I gravitate toward colors that match my mood and the warm, sunny weather. Below are some of my favorite choices in cool, blue colors for this season.
I remember how surprised I was upon discovering the great polish choices available at American Apparel. Although the polish doesn’t seem to stay on as long as professional nail lacquers, such as, OPI or Essie, I found that adding a coat of clear top-coat helps to lengthen the life of your manicure. Some of my favorite colors are called “office,” “summer peach,” and “rose bowl.”
Anyone who gets their nails done regularly is familiar with OPI nail polish. I usually don’t splurge on the somewhat pricey polish, but when I saw the OPI shade “Thanks A Windmillion” from their 2012 Holland Collection, I couldn’t resist. This is one color that can be worn in several seasons and OPI is quality polish that won’t dry out after just a few months of use.
Finally, there are two shades of nail polishes that I am constantly switching between: “Peach Keen” and “Fifth Avenue” by China Glaze Nail lacquer. It seems like years that I was searching for the perfect peach shade for summer. When I finally found “Peachy Keen” I was overjoyed with its matte finish and long-lasting wear. “Fifth Avenue” is a rose-pink hue that is perfect for any occasion. Wherever I go, I am constantly getting compliments on these two colors.
