Since perhaps the mid-eighties, the white pump has really fallen to the wayside as something coveted only by Princess Dianatics or brides looking to dye the satin either peach or mint or robin’s egg blue or whatever colour their wedding party may be and they need to match for their likely horrid bridesmaids’ dresses.
But since this summer swept around, and everybody started going so mad for their whites again and their mixed-whites, it seems lately that a classic pair of stark white pumps is just about the only thing that even makes sense anymore and ugh, why did I toss that thrifted pair I picked up this time last year?
A stark white is so stand-out; and how fine will they look against your summer skin? Try them with a pair of spring’s cropped floral pants, or paired with a monochrome bright and minimally-embellished dress à la Diane Kruger or Jessica Chastain in Cannes recently. Speaking of which, Cannes fash- where to begin?
