Ask friends and experts alike with the click of a button through the new Bing
When searching on the internet, it’s hard to know what information is honest, tried and true. Don’t you wish you could just ask a friend, or all of them? Well now you can! Now by using Bing, you can ask your Facebook friends for advice, see what experts from across Twitter and blogs have to say on the topic – and coming soon, Quora, LinkedIn and Foursquare will be added to the experience.Just type in your search on Bing, and in the right column Bing will surface information from friends on Facebook who might know based on their likes, profile and photos. In addition to information from your friends, Bing pulls information from trusted experts across Twitter and blogs who are knowledgeable on the topic of your search.
It’s a new (and super cool, I promise) innovation, so to help explain, here’s an example of what Bing can do! Every collegiette wants to go to Hawaii for a week of sun and relaxation (who doesn’t), so let’s indulge this fantasy and have Bing help us plan our vacation. If I were to search for “Hawaii vacation” in the new Bing, in addition to bringing up results about great Hawaii vacation ideas, would show me that four of my friends on Facebook just posted photos from their recent Hawaiian vacation and, two travel experts on Twitter tweeted out Hawaii travel tips last month. From Bing, I can then ask my Facebook friends for their opinions on on what spa to go to, where to go diving and more. It’s easy for them to give me their tips from Bing or Facebook. I can also go check out the travel experts Bing referenced on Twitter to see if I can pick up more tips. Now I have ample information from people who I trust that I can use to plan a perfect Hawaiian getaway!
