Ashley Costantino keeps her life packed with activities because she likes having things to do. “I don’t like to be bored,” the freshman said. It’s actually a fear of hers.
Instead of spending her time partying like most college students, Ashley spends her time doing productive activities. She is currently RHAB Secretary, Hall Council VP, a member of Del Sarte Dance Club and a co-leader for Girl Scouts. Next year, Ashley will become a RA in Cayuga Hall.
“I am extremely excited to be an RA. I think it is going to be an amazing experience and I can’t wait to begin my training and become close to my co’s.”
The RA process was a bit stressful for Ashley, but it was a good experience. She was nervous because she felt too dressed up, being one of the few girls wearing a skirt. In the end, it didn’t matter because she got the job.
A letter was how Ashley found out she got the RA job. She said they feeling can’t be described, but it was great. “A lot of people would probably think it’s ridiculous and really nerdy, but getting a position was really important to me and I would have been devastated if I hadn’t made the cut.”
Someone who wants to become an RA has to really love the school they are attending and Ashley is no exception. “There were a few reasons that I chose Oswego, and it was the best choice of my life.” Some of the reasons include the lake, the clubs and the academics. Ashley came in undecided, so it was important for her to have different interests to choose from. She is now a TESOL (teaching English as a second language) and linguistics double major.
Since Ashley is only a freshman, she’s not completely sure what she would like to do after college, but she has a few ideas. “Maybe teach overseas, maybe go to grad school, maybe join the Peace Corps, maybe be in the embassy. I guess it will depend on where my life is when I graduate.”
Even though Ashley has only been here for a year, she has gained so much knowledge and experience. “I have found things here that are once in a lifetime, and I’m only a freshman. It’s only the beginning.”
