UCLA Panhellenic president sat down to give us the scoop on what it’s like to live her crazy, sleep deprived, but very cool life.
HerCampus: What do you do exactly?
Ashley Naff: I am UCLA Panhellenic president. I oversee 13 sororities, 11 with houses and 2 without. I hold weekly meetings with Panhellenic delegates of all 13 chapters and I keep in communication with chapter presidents and UCLA faculty. I also handle judicial issues.
HC: What’s the hardest part about your job?
AN: Honestly, the time commitment. I’m a full time student too and I work at a law firm. I also belong to several student groups like SEE (Social Entrepreneurs for Education).
HC: How do you balance everything?
AN: I make a lot of lists! I priortize and try to make it to all of my commitments. Basically I run on little sleep and lots of coffee.
HC: What’s the best part of your job?
AN: Being able to promote greek life not only within NPC (National Panhellenic Council) but also exposing the UCLA community to the amazing women in our organizations.
HC: What’s one misconception you think people have about greek life?
AN: That all we do is “be greek.” Every greek I know is involved in something else. The UCLA greeks offer so much to not only the UCLA community but the greater Los Angeles community too and I think that goes under the radar.
HC: What’s been your most memorable experience as Panhellenic president?
AN: A couple weeks ago I got to have breakfast with the chancellor and that was amazing. We had really great conversations about the UCLA greek community.
