Top 10 Ro-Cos (Romantic Comedies)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

For girls night, date night, or any night.

No Strings Attached
This movie is still in theatres so get there quick! Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman star in this new movie about two people who use each other for sex, no strings attached. At some point between the 3am phone calls and a cupcake run during “that time of the month” I realized that I might need to put out a personal ad for my own Ashton Kutcher.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
This one is an absolute classic, two people set out with completely opposite objectives for a relationship end up getting a whole lot more then they bargained for. I’m sure that I could lose a guy in 10 days without breaking a sweat, but Kate Hudson is on a mission in this movie.

The Proposal
Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, two beautiful people that I admire thrown together by a deportation scandal. I love this movie its one of my favorites, throw in Betty White and I would say you’ve got a winner. I hope I have an assistant someday that would marry me and bring me to Alaska for a fake wedding all because I needed a “favor”.

Never Been Kissed
If you tell me that you haven’t watched this movie at least 10 times in your lifetime then I don’t think you’re American. This movie though it might be a little out dated now is still one of the most innocent romantic comedies around. I’m not a huge Drew Barrymore fan but she does a good job being that girl next door.

She’s Out of My League
I would never want to be Branson Bound, but this movie makes me wonder if dating a flight attendant would be this exciting. The combination of Kirk and Molly together is so bizarre that it makes the entire movie so entertaining. Marnie is also a huge bitch so watching her end up like a fool is a sweet satisfaction.

50 First Dates
Adam Sandler and his penguin steal my heart in this movie. I almost wish that I would get in a car accident that left me with no memory so that some guy in Hawaii would fall in love with me. This movie never gets old, and it gets me laughing no matter what. Aloha Adam Sandler, you can make a waffle lodge with me anytime.

The Ugly Truth
Who doesn’t love Gerard Butler? His bad boy attitude in the Ugly Truth will have you watching this movie more then once. I don’t know who I would pick between, the sexy man on my show, or my perfect doctor neighbor. Either way Katherine Hiegl is a lucky girl.

Valentines Day
With such a populated cast even if its not one of your personal favorite movies, there has to be atleast one couple in this movie you can’t get enough of. It probably isn’t going to be Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, but whatever floats your boat.

The Last Song
Don’t judge a book by its cover, even if it has Miley Cyrus on it. This might not be considered a comedy, but I thought it deserved to be on the list. I read this book before I saw the movie, and it was so good. The movie is a little different but its still such a good movie. Miley barely sings in this one too, instead we get to see a different side of her we usually don’t get when watching Hannah Montana. I would be lying if I said I didn’t own this on DVD.

The 40-year-old Virgin
“Is it true that if you don’t use it, you lose it?” I hope not. But this movie is the source of tons of my guy friends one liners. If you need funny romantic comedy I think this is the way to go. Every time feels like the first time, I roll on the floor laughing, Steve Carrell you are one funny guy.
