Here all is Boston Native, Brent Crane! Brent is a CU Junior majoring in International Affairs and Chinese. Not only does he have the brains, but the beats to go with it. Brent is an extremely talented musician who both writes his own lyrics and sings alongside two of his friends, Will Trask on the drums and Andrew Bonnis on the ukelele and upright bass. His down to earth persona is expressed through his insightful, ingenious lyrics. Check out this alternative, folk singer and make sure to add him to your Summer playlist. Personally, I’m diggin the song “Azuraye” on his current Extended Play. Can’t wait to be sittin on the porch, cocktail in hand, jammin to these new, local hits! How did you first get into music? At 15, I heard a guitar solo on the radio coming home from a hockey game. I vividly remember it and that’s when I knew I wanted to play. A week later I got a $50 Strat guitar off of ebay and then a month later I started taking lessons.
Â
Where do you find your inspiration? Well, I was born in Hong Kong and my parents raised my family to travel. I’m not influenced by the Asian culture melodically, but those experiences definitely influence my lyrics.
Â
Describe yourself in three words? I can describe my music better in three words…
Â
Okay, describe your music in three words? Flannel distant sounds.
Â
Where would we find you on a Friday night? A bar with a live band with some of my closest friends mixed with complete strangers .
Â
What’s one thing you want to cross of your CU bucketlist? Play my music at 420 on Norlin Quad.
Â
What’s your ideal date? Nice casual dinner that’s outside to people watch. Then after, taking a walk down a well lit street like Pearl.Â
