Check out two of our very own Colliegettes who ran the Georgia Publix Half Marathon! Ronni Shalem and Alexa Kahn, both juniors, trained for 7 weeks. After a relaxing spring break (while continuing their training of course), they flew back from New York to participate in the run on Sunday, March 18. The final run on their training schedule was the marathon itself, a whopping 13.1 miles.
Her Campus Emory (HCE): If you had to describe the marathon in 1 word, what would it be?
Alexa Kahn (AK): A (serious) accomplishment.
Ronni Shalem (RS): Exhilirating. (See below)
HCE: What was the best part? The before (training) the during (actually running it) or the after (standing past the finish line)?
RS: Training for it was a great process because I learned a lot about how motivated I could be… I’ve never felt so good! It was really nice working towards a goal.
AK: The feeling of crossing the finish line cannot be described. It was the first time I was running for a purpose, not just running to run. Setting a goal and being able to physically cross the finish line and accomplish it was amazing.
