If you are someone who studies “The Humanities,” or anything else within that category, you know that your majors and fields of study are very challenging, and require many years of study in school, as well as real-life training to complete. Knowledge never truly ends with this group, as we are always learning new things, and keeping our minds open to new possibilities. However, often times, the humanities can be hard to describe to people who don’t study them. Have you ever wondered just what they truly are?
UIC presents: Geoffrey Galt Harpham, President and Director of the National Humanities Center: “Finding Ourselves: The Humanities as a Discipline.” During this lecture, Mr. Harpham will address the humanities as a single discipline of study and focus, and discuss their importance within society around us.
The lecture will take place at the Daley Library Conference Room 1-470 on March 1, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
