Jared Goldman ’13

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Rushing after a three-hour night class, Jared graciously sat down with me and answered all my dire questions.  I would also like to add that while some other potential cuties thought the e-mail was a joke and   deleted it, Jared responded [after I confronted him] happily!

AGS: What is your full name?

JG: Jared Asher Goldman

AGS: So you’re taking a 3-hour class?

JG: Its awesome. [He’s so positive!] It’s really cool being in a more   professional environment it’s with MBA students.  I get to hear   different perspectives.

AGS: What is your major?

JG: Business

AGS: What activities are you involved with on campus?

JG:I was on varsity swim team freshman year. It was suspended because of budget issues. Now I am on the club swim   team.

AGS: I heard you like art – elaborate! [I have my insider sources]

JG: I like art. I find myself drawn to some contemporary artists like Rauschenberg, Rothko.  I also went through a phase where I was really into hopper and his use of light.  AGS: Where are you from?

 JG: Long Island

AGS: Why is New York the best?

JG: New York is the best because you never get bored.

AGS: How would you describe your personal style?

JG: I think I wear a lot of clothing at once be cause I get cold easily. People accuse me of looking homeless sometimes.  [It happens   to the best of us]

AGS: Is it a burden being one of the most stylish people at Brandeis?

JG: Uh – I don’t really think about it too much. I can imagine if that is what you’re achieving it can be quite difficult when the competition is so fierce.

AGS: On a day off you could find me…

JG: Doing nothing. [So humble!! By doing nothing, he meant curing   world hunger and ending global warming]

AGS: What is your favorite activity at Brandeis?

JG: At Brandeis? My favorite activity is on Friday nights getting dinner with my friends and just deciding on what to do from there on. I am very happy when its 3 o’clock on a Friday and I’m like oh we’ll all get dinner tonight. Going into Boston is  good too.

AGS: Where do you see yourself in ten years?

JG: Hopefully employed living in the city. Hopefully I have a dog.

AGS: You like animals?

JG: Yeah. I used to want to be a vet.  I worked all summer at a vet   hospital. It turns out I don’t like science.  [I used to want to be a   vet also, but it turned out I don’t really like animals].

AGS: What’s on your favorite playlist right now?

JG: My favorite playlist – what am I listening to? Now that I got  spotify it changed my life I listen to so much music a day. (Takes out   I -phone) I guess beachhouse.  Salem, lcd sound system, local natives– it changes by the day. It’s usually how I procrastinate from doing work.

AGS: What can a girl do to get your attention?

JG: Uhhm – just be like really relaxed – don’t try to draw too much   attention to yourself. I’m not into girls who act super ditsy. I find it kind of high schoolish.

AGS: If you could only eat one food type for the rest of your life  what would it be?

JG: One food type – uh – that’s rough – I don’t know. Like a good   roast chicken I think. If its don’t right. Not bones or chicken that is  grilled to death.

AGS: If your life had a theme song what would it be?

JG: I am getting a lot of music oriented questions. Lets see – I don’t   know.

AGS: Okay I’ll change the question.  If your life was a sitcom what would the title be?  JG: The challenges of doing nothing

AGS: Did your friends know what Brandeis was when you decided to come  here?

JG: No. they thought I was going to some like community school. They were like oh great you’re furthering your education. But I don’t really care that much.

AGS: Favorite movie

JG:  Life Aquatic with Bill Murray

AGS: What is your favorite article of clothing that you own?

JG: My favorite article of clothing – my dad had this super old button down that he wore when he was in college. It looks totally 80s – a  lot of neon. I have yet to break it out at Brandeis. It’s a little much.

AGS: Do you have any big plans for break?

JG: I am actually going to Cuba with my friends.

AGS: So were allowed to go to Cuba now?

JG: We actually have to drive to Montreal first. And turn our American dollars into Canadian dollars.

AGS: What is the motto you live by?

JG: I think people should take a step back and look at the big picture and try to make themselves happy.

AGS: What is your favorite cookie?

JG: My favorite cookie. Mexican wedding cookie.

AGS: What is that?  JG: Its dipped in powdered sugar and it has almonds in it and it is   shaped like a half moon. [No chocolate or peanut butter? I must admit   I am un peux skeptical]

AGS: I cant live without….

JG: I can’t live without my family

AGS: What do you like on your Einstein’s bagel?

JG: On my Einstein’s bagel – this is gonna sound so lame I usually get   light cream cheese or peanut butter. I’m not into the flavors.

I would love to thank Jared for being a great interviewee and you Brandeisians for nominating him! Without you [Andrew Lent], there wouldn’t be a campus cutie.

Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
