Bringing the Aztec Nation Together with the “Aztec Motto”

Here at San Diego State we pride ourselves on quite a few things: our academics, attractive students, strong Greek life, and of course, our highly ranked basketball team.  The team has currently been climbing up the competitive list and is now posted at spot number fourteen in the nation.  There’s something about the energy in our stadium’s student section, also dubbed “The Show,” that is unbeatable and only motivates the team to work harder on the court. 

But now, thanks to Aztec Forward Tim Shelton, The Show has a new song to blast with pride. 

The senior wrote and recorded, “Aztec Motto,” and with help from fellow teammates and students who are avidly present in The Show, created an epic music video that was posted to Youtube on January 15th.  The video has gone viral just after a month of being online with over 180,000 views, and that’s just on Youtube; Shelton’s work has also been featured by ESPN.com, Yahoo Sports, and now, Her Campus! The video has not only caught the attention of thousands, but it has also shed a spotlight on Tim Shelton and the Aztec Pride that runs deep in all of us.

The music video is something that can’t be missed, and as Aztecs, we should come together, share it, support the team, and participate in The Show with only six games, three of them being at home, left in the season!

Jazmine is a freshman at San Diego State University in beautiful SO Cal. With plans to major in Communication and double minor in public relations as well as TFM (Television, Film, and New Media), she deeply enjoys reading, writing, and getting to know people around campus. As the founder and Campus Correspondent for Her Campus SDSU, her hopes are high and she is confident the branch will be a wonderful success. While in her first year of college, she is learning how to be more involved around campus while maintaining her studies. After spending a few childhood years living in Europe and traveling internationally, Jazmine has a passion for learning about different cultures from all over the world, especially the different foods! Future plans? She intends to have a career in media, preferably at a fashion magazine, such as Seventeen, or work with a popular television network such as OWN. In her free time she enjoys being with friends, reading, photography, Sunday church, learning how to play the ukulele, organizing things, and spending hours in the beauty department at almost any store.
