The Newest Exhilarating Workout!

Do you like to exercise? Are you looking for a new way to do it? Well, do I have the answer for you! It’s Zumba! Zumba is a Latin dance-infused workout program that allows you to burn calories and have a great time doing it. When doing Zumba you will not only know it works, but you will feel like you are at a dance party every time you go. You can buy these videos as an exercise program, but to get the real experience you need to go find a class at your local YMCA or through your town’s Parks and Recreation Department. The students here at UConn have taken to this fitness movement with lots of energy and determination to get into their own classes. At our BodyWise fitness program, the Zumba classes were originally capped at thirty students, but because it has been so popular that they would have fifty or more students come to sign up, they have just recently upped the amount of people that can sign up for the class to forty students.

According to an avid Zumba participant here on campus, “I love Zumba and I can’t get enough of it!”

In her opinion, they don’t have enough Zumba classes at BodyWise and hopes that the classes soon have a schedule like the spin classes. Our spin classes happen every day on the hour, almost every hour, whereas Zumba is only one hour per day! This new fitness phenomenon is sweeping the nation and it is becoming a sensation, but don’t trust me—go and try it! Here at UConn we can’t get enough, so come Zumba with us!
