Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Despite the fact that Valentine’s Day is a mostly commercial holiday, pulling us to the candy and greeting card aisle to spend a dollar or two on that special someone, it can be enjoyed by everyone, in a relationship or not.  Here are some ways to celebrate the holiday, on and off campus!

Dress for the holiday!
Try a new cute outfit incorporating red, white, and pink or add a little holiday flair by festively painting your nails.

Eat out with friends!
Spend some of your points at Chuck & Augie’s with the girls and take a break from the dining hall for the night.  Chuck & Augie’s now even has a gluten-free menu.

Go to the Benton for coffee or shopping!
The Benton is a great place to sit and get a warm dink as well as to shop for cute gifts for family, friends, or even yourself!

Brave the cold and go for a hike!
Bundle up, grab hot chocolate, and go for a walk or hike around campus with your cutie.  This is a relaxed way to celebrate the holiday and take a much needed break from homework.

Spread love by making Valentines for your friends!
Even if you don’t have a special someone, doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate.  Make or buy cheap Valentine’s Day cards for your friends and surprise them.  It will brighten their day!

Check out our “romantic” spots on campus with your boyfriend!
We scoured the campus for cute spots to spend time with your boy, check them out and look at our photos in our photoblog!

Happy Valentine’s Day, collegiettes!
