Fifteen Reasons why it’s Fun to be Single on Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, a lot of people think that they have to find a date, however that is not always the case. There are tons of great things to do with other single friends to make your day that much better. Here are some fun things to do on Valentine’s Day while you’re single:

  1. Send yourself flowers to ensure that you get your favorite kind.
  2. Divulge in as much luxurious and expensive chocolate as you please, and none of that generic heart box of chocolates where you never know what pieces you’re getting.
  3. Get a group of friends together and have a cheesy movie night with all the classic comedies.
  4. Create a playlist of the most popular 90’s tunes and have a sing along jam out session.
  5. Make an anti-valentine’s day cake or other sweet treats.
  6. Organize a secret-admirer single girl gift swap with friends and get small gifts for each other.
  7. Practice as many corny pick-up lines as you can.
  8. Treat yourself to a spa day- mani/pedis make everyone feel better.
  9. Pig out on your favorite snacks without feeling guilty.
  10. Have a hottie movie marathon and rent all your favorite movies with the latest hunks.
  11. Take the time to realize that being single has its benefits, not all couples are in a happy and healthy relationship no matter how they seem.
  12. You only have to worry about sharing your bed with your dog or cat.
  13. You can begin something you’ve been putting off
  14. It’s a perfect time to go out and mingle with singles.
  15. Jokingly set up an online dating profile just to make sure you’re still in the game.

Although these are great tips for singles on Valentine’s Day, there’s nothing stopping you from trying them out every other day of the year.
