The Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles was bursting with talent as the year’s best film and television stars gathered together on January 29, 2012 for the18th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. While I was ecstatic to see my favorite actors and actresses win, I was, of course, more interested in what (or who) they wore. The red carpet was full of incredible (and incredibly awful) choices. Here is my top five best-dressed list:
5. Rose Byrne
I am usually not a fan of jumpsuits, but Rose Byrne looked gorgeous in a sparkling white Elie Saab with a plunging neckline. Complete with a severe bob, Jimmy Choos and a gold clutch, Byrne rocked a ‘70s flashback.
4. Octavia Spencer
Not only did Spencer win a SAG award for her supporting role in “The Help,” she also wins my approval for her Tadashi Shoji dress. She looks beautiful in an embroidered sari-like gown: a short-sleeved top paired with a skirt gathered at the hip, accentuating her waist.
3. Emma Stone
The always adorable Emma Stone channeled The Help with her black full-skirted tea-length dress by Alexander McQueen. With a lace bodice and black ankle strap heels with bows, Stone looks super girly. This classy outfit wouldn’t be complete without the Alexander McQueen clutch, gorgeous Tiffany & Co. drop earrings, and an Audrey Hepburn updo.
2. Lea Michele
The “Glee” star showed off a striking amount of leg this year in a figure-flattering pale blue-gray Versace gown. Her neutral makeup and loose hair give Michele and effortlessly glam look…a few steps up from her over-the-top Emmy’s dress.
1. Naya Rivera
Watch out Leah Michele, there’s a new “Glee” star in the spotlight. Costar Naya Rivera has nabbed the best-dressed award of the night. Rivera looks hot in a plunging icy blue Naeem Khan gown. Simple jewelry, long locks, and neutral makeup are the perfect addition to the gorgeous star’s red carpet look.
