What to Wear this Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!  If you’re going on a date, you will probably change your outfit about a million times before deciding on what to wear.  Yep, we understand.  Don’t worry, all of the essentials to a beautiful outfit are already in your closet.  Skipping the date and heading out with your girls on Valentine’s Day?  Sounds good to us! These outfits will have your entire group looking fabulous walking around downtown Boston!

Pink, Red, White, Whatever!
Don’t be the girl who wears all black on Valentines Day to be different and stand out from the crowd.  If you’re single, wearing black gives off the vibe that you’re mourning, and clearly isn’t as vibrant and fun.  If you’re not the frilly and girly type, you can still wear one of these solid and bright colors in your own way and personal style.  Even as an accent color, these solids will spruce up your outfit in seconds.  Lipstick, dresses, pants, shirts, scarves, and bags… there are so many ways to incorporate these colors into your outfit. Check it out!

Lace:
Lace can be both a beautiful daytime and a stunning nighttime look.  A flowy top, dress, or skirt is a very feminine and lady-like way to dress on Valentine’s Day.  Just like all those cute doily hearts you cut out when you were little to paste on your plain red card: lace gives the finishing touch to any Valentine.

Florals:
Call me traditional, but chocolates and flowers are staples of Valentine’s Day.  Whether you have floral jeans, a top, a dress, a skirt, a romper, or even a headband, vintage floral patterns are making a comeback.  Floral on floral (a flowery top with flowery bottoms) is also very in, so give it a try!

Trendy and Classy
There are so many options in your closet to look beautiful for a night on the town.  Is there a dress that you love but haven’t had the occasion to wear yet?  Is there one top that seems a little too dressy for class but way too formal to wear on the weekend?  On Valentine’s Day, dressing up a little more than usual is allowed.  If you are going to a restaurant, a movie, or even if your date is making dinner for you at his place, make it a classy and formal occasion!  A little black dress, yes black, is a simple and classy look with a touch of fancy. Wearing something that you are comfortable and feel sexiest in is the most important.  Think Audrey Hepburn and classic Hollywood…

If you DO want to splurge for your big night, check out these awesome buys from www.modcloth.com.  All of these dresses are under $100 and can be used for a variety of occasions after Valentine’s Day is over…

Comfort Clothes
Your ensemble is probably the most important when you come home from that date or you are raiding your chocolate stash while watching The Notebook.  Let go of the pressure to be polished and perfect.  Let your hair down, take your makeup off and put your sweats on.  Nothing is better on Valentine’s Day than a little relaxation with the one you love.  Check out Natalie’s PJs!
