Don’t even get me started on what the best winter study snacks are, unless you have a lot of time on your hands. You know how when you were younger and your parents would ask you which snack was your favorite? Well, if you’re anything like me, you could never decide. It’s the same with winter snacks. They are all the best. It just depends on what you’re in the mood for.
Let’s start by addressing a frustrating situation. You did your workout today, weight training and all, you ate that Chobani yogurt for breakfast, and at dinner you went with a salad and finished it off with some healthy sweet potatoes and a chicken breast. But let’s be real—it’s 11PM, you’re doing your reading, and you’re hungry. You don’t want to waste all of the hard work you put in to eating well today, but your stomach is making thunderous noises (“Did you hear that?” “UH NO”). You’re going to have to eat something. But don’t you fret! There are lots of great tasting healthy snacks you can stock up on! Pick up some pre-sliced grapefruit at Whole Foods or Stop and Shop, or pack a Tupperware container with cherry tomatoes at Val. Your body and your jeans will thank you for choosing these snacks!
But if you want to take the other route and reward yourself for your healthy day… well this is the fun part. Some of us just need chocolate. If you are feeling nostalgic for your childhood, go for Oreos!! Try the 365 All Natural Sandwich Cremes, aka Organic Oreos, which are amazing (and if they’re organic they’re “healthy” right?). Here is a list of other great, late-night chocolate snack options:
Peanut Butter Snickers (a great source of protein?)
Lindt (classy!)
Chocolate covered nuts (almonds are my personal favorite, and they’re full of protein and calcium!)
Twix (ask one of the heads of HerCampus Amherst, Evelyn Kramer, to wax poetic on her love of Twix)
Reese’s (how the heck is it actually pronounced?!)
Kisses (they’re so small that you don’t feel bad eating a zillion)
And so many more…
Or maybe you need something a little more substantial to snack on— order yourself some Sugar Jones, or for a more-for-less deal, order cookies from D.P. Dough. They are literally crack. If you are the ultimate study/stress-eater though, I would order some wings, or whip out some
crackers and cheese (goat cheese has more protein and fewer calories than other cheeses).
