If you have walked anywhere near East 15th Ave. lately, you probably are very aware of the fact that Formal Recruitment took place at the beginning of this month.  Hoards of girls, bundled up on top of their nice dresses and dress pants, carried their heels as they trudged from house to house in Ugg boots (thanks to an unwelcome snow storm and icy sidewalks!), visiting sorority houses during the four different rounds of recruitment.  16 houses within The Ohio State Panhellenic Association (commonly known as PHA) held events for Union Round, House Tour Round, Philanthropy Round and Preference Round.  On Monday, active members danced and cheered on their houses’ front lawns as the newest additions to their respective chapters ran from the Ohio Union to their organized Bid Day celebrations.Â

Gabrielle Morbitzer, a member of Delta Delta Delta and outgoing Vice President of Recruitment for PHA, summarized the positive experience. “Working with these women during recruitment, we were strong and functioned as a unified community—which is incredibly empowering for a woman to see what we can accomplish when we all work together and our main goal is to build each other up to be the strongest that we can be,” Morbitzer said.

According to Morbitzer, 535 women found a home and sisterhood within Ohio State’s Greek Life—about 70 more than last year.  “I think that the overwhelming amount of interest in being a sorority woman is a testament to the amazing sorority women that we already have here at Ohio State,” Morbitzer said. “It’s exciting to be able to work with these women everyday and see all that they’re doing for the community and their sisters all over the world.”

Congratulations to the newest additions to Ohio State Greek Life!Â
