Watch out world! Connor McCarthy, a creative writing major, from my hometown of D-town, otherwise known as Darien, CT, is the latest and greatest entrepreneur to hit the streets of Oxford!
Initially his business associate and counterpart Connor Kastenbaum was afraid that Connor’s ideas might be a little too offensive to put on something worn in public. After asking around, it seemed that the more offensive, the better, hence the idea for the T-shirt slogan was born. On the front the shirt says, “Elephants never forget?” And on the back, “Elephants aren’t invited then. GBD 2012 “Not for elephants”. Connor himself has never designed anything, but the t-shirts seemed like a good way to make some quick cash before spring break rolls around (I’m feeling inspired for sure!) Hence the brainstorming process began… and Connor sat around for about an hour shooting around design ideas with his partner in crime. By the time of winter break rolled around, they jotted down what they thought was appropriate and put it in picture form (hence the dream was becoming a reality)! He says that he does not have other people working on the project with him, but an arena they really could use some assistance in is their website and they are open to other slogans because they feel as though their designs are not nearly offensive enough.
These green shirts featuring a cute little elephant are well-priced at 15 per shirt, because they figured most college kids are semi-ecstatic at 15 dollar t-shirts. In terms of manufacturing they are relying on custom-ink, but that is subject to change because they haven’t finalized their order. Praise the Lord for social media because that is what these business-savvy men have been relying on to spread the word about their designs. They have made a Facebook event and invited people, but they are thinking of making count-down shirts (41 days to be exact now!), so as to have people wear them and raise awareness to their product before GBD 2012 (can it get here now please?!) Be on the lookout for these baller shirts around campus all the while being a good Samaritan by helping to support Connor’s spring break funds!Â
