Looking for something fun to do in Pittsburgh? Pittsburgh is known as the “City of Champions,” and for a good reason. There are three awesome professional sports teams (Okay, so the Pirates aren’t so awesome), and great college sports.
As a Pittsburgh native, I support all of the sports teams, but the Pittsburgh Penguins are by far my favorite. Who doesn’t want to watch a fast paced game with fights and other kinds of excitement? The players (i.e. Sidney Crosby) are also really attractive, which makes the whole thing even better…
The best part is, as college students, we get discount tickets (usually pretty good seats) for only $25 at every home game. The “Student Rush” tickets are sponsored by American Eagle and 200 tickets are available for every home game. They can be purchased online the morning of the game, and all you need is a student ID to pick them up. On certain dates (February 15, March 9, and March 27), 500 tickets are available, but you have to wait in line outside the Consol Energy Center for them.
It may not seem like fun to wait in line, but there is music, prizes, and giveaways, and Penguins players and coaches have been known to bring pizza for the college students waiting in line. There are usually one or two home games a week, so Penguins Student Rush is a great way to have fun and see a great sports team.
