OSU’s Fashionable Collegiettes™ Enjoy College Fashionista Styling Tour

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

Kicking off in Columbus Nov. 29, the college trend website College Fashionista partnered with Madewell stores and took to the road for a three-city tour to meet trendy students and host a styling competition.

Hosted by the site’s founder, Amy Levin, in conjunction with Ohio State College Fashionista interns, Katie Higgins, Morgan Hisey and Elizabeth Sensky, Madewell at Easton Town Center opened its doors to students, offering a 30 %-off discount with BuckID. Curbing finals week cravings, Madewell also provided signature cookies, coffee and Izzie soda.

Around 20 students participated in a “staple piece” styling contest.  Contestants chose one of the provided staple items (which included denim skinnies, a detailed leather jacket or a chambray shirt), and styled an entire look with items from throughout the store.

From red skinnies to chunky sweaters, and lace shorts to bright silk blouses, the contest showcased the season’s hottest styles and proved that wardrobe basics can be styled a variety of ways to fit individual style.  Interns Higgins and Sensky modeled the looks for contestants, and Levin served as the final judge.

Contestant Tatiana Triguba won the evening’s competition with a chic look of lace shorts, silk blouse, chambray shirt and floppy felt hat.  Triguba won a gift card to further enjoy the event’s store discount.

Sophomore Melissa Brown styled medium-wash denim with a purple sparkle tee, chunky sweater and patterned scarf—a look perfect for the chilly Ohio State winter.  Junior Kim Maugeri styled the staple chambray shirt with a basic cami and tights under a chic pair of lace shorts.  Sophomore Katie Kern choose dark denim to pair with a perfect green silk blouse, brown boots and a unique patterned scarf.

Not only was the event a great excuse for a little personal holiday shopping, it was a chance for Ohio State’s fashionable collegiettes™ to relax from the stressful end to the quarter and meet fellow fashionistas.
