Tracey Gold Brings New Reality Show About Eating Disorders to Lifetime

In the 1990s, Tracey Gold was a star on the popular sitcom Growing Pains. She also checked into an eating disorder treatment center during that time, making her the face of anorexia for much of the decade.

Now, she’s back- recovered and bringing a new reality show to Lifetime that will highlight real individuals struggling with eating disorders. The show, Starving Secrets, will feature Gold and a team of specialists working in tandem to help cast members fight their diseases while seeking treatment.

While the media’s take on eating disordered is overshadowed by climbing obesity rates in the country, publications like Marie Claire have worked to increase awareness that focuses on a population that is too thin. Gold hopes to do the same with her show.

“20 years ago, when I became ill with anorexia, there was very little information available to me,” she said. “The people and stories on my show will portray the horror and loneliness we experience in battling this terrible disease.”

Starving Secrets will air on Lifetime on December 20.
