Up Til’ Dawn: Get Involved!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Mark your calendars for November 2nd, from 6pm to 12am in the Back Bay—Up Til’ Dawn is a fundraising event you don’t want to miss.  The money raised from this event is donated to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, where it will be used for cancer research.

So what exactly is Up Til’ Dawn?

Each participant is asked to bring as many addresses as they can (aim for 50!) to send pre-written donation letters to.  There will be food, prizes, and games so this event is a ton of fun as well as a meaningful way to donate your time.  Up Til’ Dawn will also have a DJ and sumo wrestling at the event!

Register for Up Til’ Dawn and start collecting your addresses as soon as possible.  You can also repost this Facebook status to help spread awareness and receive an extra raffle ticket for the awesome prizes.

St. Jude’s is an incredible hospital that has saved the lives of countless children.  This research and support is expensive though, it costs St. Jude’s $1.7 million everyday just to keep their doors open.  Every dollar helps sustain their efforts.  You might be asking yourself why this cost is so large—not only is St. Jude’s the first institution established especially for pediatric cancer treatment and research, but it is the only one whichnever turns away a child.

This means that if treatments aren’t covered by a child’s insurance, St. Jude’s covers the expenses.  The research hospital is also very progressive and effective in their treatment methods.  For example, the survival rate for leukemia has increased from 4% in 1962 to 94% today thanks to research, including St. Jude’s.  This goes to show that your donation of time and money is really going to mean something.

What could be better than knowing you spent your night saving lives?
