Now that my favorite season is in full swing, it’s time to get down on all the festivities!
Knoxville is filled of scary Halloween adventures and cute traditional events, AND we have the scoop on these places to hit before Thanksgiving. Planning a party? We also have two great festive cocktails and costume ideas for you and your friends.
Knoxville Attractions, Frightening or Not!
Dead Man’s Farm is a haunted house with a terrifying legend of the old Knoxville Bludgeon family. It is testified to be truly haunted filled with “delight, horror, fantasy and terror”; so, if scary is your thing (and it’s definitely mine), this sounds like the place to get your fix. They are open every weekend through Halloween, including Wednesdays and Thursdays located in Lenoir City, for $13 a ticket.
Fright Works has been named the “Best Overall Haunt” by Constantine’s Haunt Review, and as a 2010 costumer I can agree. This haunted attraction offers two different adventures to choose from. There is “Dream Reavers: The Nightmare Continues” where you explore Reaver Sleep Research Labs; or you can choose “Lokis Labyrinth” which is an all new devious maze filled with traps and actors. Fright Works is open Thursday through Sunday every weekend until Halloween for $13 an attraction or $20 for both!
Trail of Doom is noted as Knoxville’s largest and longest haunted attraction, located on Oakes Farm. Much more scary than just a haunted cornfield, it contains special effects, props and actors to truly frighten you! There are tours Thursday through Sunday every weekend in October, and even Halloween. The Trail of Doom is $15 a ticket.
The Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch at Oakes Farms is great farm fun to get in to the groove of the season. You can pick a pumpkin from their patch to carve or go through the intricate corn maze!
Let’s Do the Monster Mash!
If you are throwing a Halloween party or just want to try something new and festive, because after all, it’s a holiday, try one or both of these two drinks:
Vampire Kiss Halloween Cocktail from Shawn Rabideau on celebrations.com
3 parts Champaign, 1 part vodka with a heavy splash of raspberry soda
It’s effervescent, fruity and strong…three things that make for a great holiday party.
Witch’s Brew is a cocktail that my best friend and I make every Halloween!
3 parts vodka (or favorite liquor), 3 parts ginger ale with one pint of rainbow sherbert that you drop in the middle of the bowl and let melt.
It’s so delicious! So be careful, this drink sneaks up on you….quick.
