It’s that time of year where we say goodbye to flip-flops and hello to Uggs with open arms. Fall has officially descended upon our great campus. But just because the temperature is dropping, doesn’t mean your fashion sense has to suffer too. There are SO many items you can incorporate into your wardrobe to take it from summer all the way into spring.
Here are my top five must have items for this fall:
Blazers: I am obsessed with blazers. In my opinion, they should be a staple in every collegiette’s wardrobe. It’s the perfect thing to throw over a t-shirt or dress when you want to stay warm as you’re rushing from your dorm or house to Roy O. The best thing about blazers is that you can pair them with your favorite summer tee and instantly create a fall look. Forever 21 currently has a wide assortment of blazers that are pretty affordable.
Scarves: In the fall, I pretty much wear a scarf every day. I have a huge collection. When it’s just a little chilly outside, it’s the perfect accessory to keep you warm. It adds color to any outfit. Also, they pair very well with blazers!
Tights: One major problem with fall weather is staying warm when you have to dress up. You’ll have multiple occasions this fall where you’re going to have to don a dress or skirt. Whether it is for chapter, attending a speaker, a class presentation, or even a date, you’re going to want to keep your legs warm. That’s where tights come in. They are a nice, stylish way to stay warm as you parade around campus in your new dress.
New Shoes: As cute as those sandals you’ve been rocking all summer are, they’re not going to keep you warm as you trek around campus through falling temperatures. It’s time to switch it up. Boots, ballet flats, oxfords, and TOMS are great shoes to wear in the fall. And Charlotte Russe is currently having a sale!
‘Frackets’: We can’t deny that partying is part of DePauw’s culture. However, party clothes aren’t exactly the warmest of all attire. You can wear a coat out, but there’s always the possibility that someone might snag your North Face from where you stashed it. Investing in a ‘fracket’ (frat jacket) can save you the heartache of loosing your favorite jacket. A fracket is a cheap jacket you can pick up at Goodwill that you won’t care if it gets lost, stolen, or covered in beer. The more vintage, the better.
