Fall break is literally just around the corner and I know we are all itching to go home to enjoy the all too short-lived splendors of fall. There is nothing like a home-cooked pumpkin pie or sitting by the fire to read a good book, BUT Fall at Bucknell can be just as relaxing and fun!
Pumpkin Picking
There is nothing like a day of pumpkin picking to make us nostalgic for our childhoods, right? Thankfully, Ards farm is close by, helping us revive those sweet memories with our new college friends. With rows upon rows of pumpkins, you’ll be sure to find a favorite and bring it back to your dorm for a good home. To complete this experience, grab a quick pumpkin spiced latte (or other fall flavored drinks) at 7th street before heading over to the farm. Remember to bring your camera to snap those adorable photos of you and your friends struggling to pick up the largest pumpkin!
Embracing your artsy side
Now that you’ve got your pumpkin, carving it will be 100% necessary. Lay some newspaper out on the sidewalk and roll up your sleeves to start giving your pumpkin some personality. Make it creative and be sure to mobile upload it to facebook so we all can see how the finished product looks! If that totally exhausted you, take a break and watch a fall movie. Personal favorites: “You’ve Got Mail,” “Hocus Pocus,” and “When Harry Met Sally.”
Taking a walk
Is there anything more beautiful than the Bucknell campus, amidst the colorful falling leaves and the bright skies? Everyone should take some time out of their busy schedules to leisurely stroll through campus and spend a moment appreciating the beauty. The air is crisp and fresh so throw on your chunky sweaters and riding boots for that casual chic fall look. Watch the sunset from the benches on the quad, you’ll be sure to keep that memory with you after you graduate.
Baking
For those of us who have access to kitchens, baking is the best way to obtain the glorious smells of autumn. Rich spices and fall scents can fill a room and instantly pick up your mood. With so many flavors to choose from, you will easily find a recipe to suit your fancy. If you’re really lost try pumpkin muffins, apple pie, or for all those sweet-tooths out there, caramel apples!Â
