Where to Find Your Ideal Guy at ASU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

When strolling around campus, there is no doubt that Appalachian State has a melting pot of men.  Everywhere you turn a cute guy can be spotted, and sometimes that can be overwhelming when searching for Mr. Right.  There is such an assortment here at App that it can almost feel like we are back in elementary school, book open in our lap, searching for Waldo’s red stripes.  Here are some tips to find cute boys on campus and help you in your search for the perfect guy.

“The frat guy” — These boys are not hard to spot on campus given that they are usually sporting a visor, croakies, and a frat-tastic t-shirt.  They can usually be found partying it up at Klondike any day of the week and remember, they like to run in packs!  On game days, they make it easy for us girls; pick out the boy of your choice as they congregate on Duck Pond to tailgate.

“The studious cute in a nerdy-kind-of-way”— It can’t hurt to look for a guy who is both studious and good-looking.  After all, you can’t spell studious without “stud!” The second floor of the library tends to be a hot spot for this type of guy.  Not only can you enjoy the eye-candy, but you can do it with the help of a new “math tutor.”   Don’t be afraid to purposely drop your pencil and wait for that cute boy next to you to pick it up.

“The mountain man” – As mountaineer’s, we have been blessed with an array of camping, hiking, and outdoor activities.  If your ideal date is hiking the parkway or going canoeing along the New River, listen up!  Check out the University Recreation outdoor programs for the adventurous type.  Try the climbing wall in the SRC which now has new hot pink lead ropes!  We are lucky enough to live in these beautiful mountains, and these men are in ample supply.

“The hippie”
– Next time you are walking to class, just look down.  Bare feet can be found all over campus and are a sure sign of your free spirit man.  With their jeans rolled up and their hair hanging down, these boys are easy to spot hanging out on Sanford Mall. Find them nestled in their hammocks or even walking a tight-rope in front of Anne Belk Hall.

“The athlete” – Luckily on this campus, we have three gyms to search for this type of guy.  The majority of the athletes can be found working out at the SRC, the Quinn or Mt. Mitchell!  Wander over to the weight lifting area and pretend you are in need of a spotter.  Just think, now you have a reason to go out and buy cute workout clothes!  One helpful hint for those hitting the gym: keep the makeup to a minimum and the hair up; if you are looking for an athletic guy, he will more-than-likely want to see you sweat.

“The artsy boy” – Whether you are looking for a concert goer or the next Van Gogh, there are plenty of places to start your search.  The music junkie could likely be found attending concerts at Legends or at the open mic night in Crossroads.  You may even want to check out the boys in App State’s acapella group, Higher Ground.  The art and design majors can usually be spotted in Wey Hall or helping out at the Turchin Center for Visual Arts.  Whether they are painting the tunnel or preparing for their next concert, these boys are hard to miss.

Now that you have an idea where your ideal man may be hiding, get going ladies! All that’s left to say is, good luck and happy hunting!
