Pauly D and Vinnie, Lloyd and Harry, Starsky and Hutch…all dynamic duos when it comes to the quest for members of the opposite sex. But where do girls come in? We all know it’s sometimes hard to go it alone, and that’s where the perfect wingwoman can come in and help you.
Be sure to follow these guidelines when looking for the perfect lady to assist you on your man quest or to brush up on your skills to help a sister out!

Making a Plan
Being wingwomen should be a conscience decision two ladies make before even heading out of the pregame. Usually the only words that need to be exchanged are, “Let’s find hot men tonight.” Both girls are clued in to the optimum mission: if you start talking to a dude, he better have a friend by his side.
Also, wingwomen should dress to compliment each other. All this means is that if you think tonight is for breaking out your new over-the-knee boots and short dress, you had better relay that message to your wingwoman. She better be dressed to the nines too, not thinking tonight is jeans and a cute tank night.

At the Party
Never dispatch a wingwoman across the party to relay a message for you to your new love interest. This is not seventh grade, and he’s not circling Y or N on a note. Chances are he will get confused and start making out with her instead, even without some Mean Girls style sabotage (Regina and Aaron at the Halloween party, anyone?). When you see your man, you must be the one to make the initial moves on him. A wingwoman is there to flank you and laugh at your jokes to insist to this man that you are hilarious.

The best option for mutual wingwomen is to scope out a group of guys together, at the very least two. You start with a little conversation and pretty soon you both have your targets settled (which can be exchanged between skillful wingwomen with just a look). You work the group, feed off each other, and throw in just enough inside jokes that all you can hope is these guys are thinking, “Shoot, these are by far the best ladies at this party.”
A good wingwoman takes the friend. A great wingwoman will distract the not-so-cute friend.

When it’s time to hit the ladies room or get a refill, the perfect wingwoman stays by the guys’ sides. A lot of girls might be tempted to take her with but the best option is to let her stay and work on your new love interest. She can nudge him for a little information and drop some not so subtle hints along the lines of, “So my friend…so hot/awesome/fun, right!?”  She can then relay the inside scoop to you the instant you get back, all while pretending to text another friend across the room.

Exit Strategy
A wingwoman knows her cue to leave. She can sense it from the smile you shoot her that says, “Way to go, you really helped me out, but leave now or die.” She gracefully bows out, leaving you and your new man alone for the rest of the evening.

Nothing is worse than a wingwoman who has done her job but then will not leave you alone. She may have struck out herself and now feels awkward to be without her gal pal at the party, but that is a consequence of a deal she entered earlier in the night. She can’t stop talking to you and refuses to acknowledge that with 7/8 of your body turned towards this new guy, you can’t really hear what she’s saying. But this is probably some of it: “Hey I’m probably leaving soon…wait, how are you getting home?…well I’m being picked up now so you should probably come too if you want a ride…but I don’t want to order Pokey Stix by myself tonight…”

Wingwomen are confident, entertaining, and at the end of the evening either charming or self-reliant. To find your perfect match, the Carrie to your Samantha, take a couple of friends out one night and see which one gets you the best results.
