1.5 million barrels of oil are used annually to produce plastic water bottles for America alone – enough to fuel 100,000 U.S. cars for a year.
Imagine a water bottle filled a quarter of the way up with oil. That’s about how much oil was needed to produce the bottle.
Our concern is removing all bottled water from Brown’s campus in order to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, and APRIL is our month to spread awareness about the adverse and unnecessary effects of bottled water on the environment (and our wallets).
So join and stay tuned, we’ll be having many watertastic events throughout the next glorious month that you won’t want to miss!
