I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for the weekend since well—last weekend. I suggest getting any and all academic work out of the way pronto so you can spend this beautiful weekend enjoying all things Trinity. As promised, here’s your weekend forecast: every Trinity collegiette’s™ best friend.
It’s going to be perfect September weather. Thursday night there’s a slight chance of rain, so I would suggest sporting a rain jacket if you’re hitting the frats (it should be chilly, too). No worries though, because this unfortunate weather is just a hiccup in what promises to be a gorgeous Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (sunny and high 60s everyday!). So dig out your best Trinity sweatshirt and throw on your favorite pair of sunglasses because we’ve got some pretty awesome suggestions.
A lot of sports teams are away this weekend but there are certainly some home games worth highlighting. The football team makes its first appearance on Saturday in a scrimmage against Wesleyan at noon. How early is too early to tailgate? Answer: Trick question. It’s never too early. Women’s soccer plays at 2pm on the soccer field, conveniently located next to the football stadium. On Sunday, women’s field hockey plays Bates at noon. Who knows? Maybe campus celeb Caroline Snite will sign you an autograph afterwards.
Not so into sports? There’s plenty more to look forward to, but plan accordingly! The ACapella auditions concert starts at 9pm on Friday in Hamlin Hall. The Quirks, Accidentals, Dischords, Pipes, and Trinitones are all worth watching and if I wasn’t completely tone deaf, I’d for sure stick around to audition afterward. Frats got you down? Be sure to make a stop at The Fred main common room (Summit East) where they’re hosting Paint to the Music on Friday. Described as “an evening of artistic explosion while fine tunes explore your ear canals,” it promises to be an excellent opportunity to unleash your creative self. The Trinity House of Peace is hosting Friday Peace Pipes and will include hookah, food, and good times. I hope there’s falafel. For those of you dancers (and no, not just at late night), there are auditions on Sunday from 2-4pm for choreographer-in-residence, Lindsey Dietz Marchant’s piece for the fall dance concert. She encourages dancers of all backgrounds to audition, so if you’re interested, go for it!
Hungry? Me too. This week’s suggestion is Plan B Burger located on 138 Park Road. I don’t want to spoil the many wonders of Plan B for you (and there are MANY), but I will give you the gist. They’re motto is “Nobody beats our meat.” Laugh all you want, but they’re right. While I’m a Max Burger enthusiast for sure, nothing beats Plan B’s reasonable prices and trendy yet casual atmosphere. It’s close to campus and nothing short of delicious. We suggest the pickles and peppers appetizer, 3 shrooms burger, spicy steak salad, and lobster mac ‘n cheese. YUM.
And that’s our two-cents. Happy weekend-ing, Trin collegiette’s™!
