Taste of UIC: Your Food Haven

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

Why commit to just one food option when you can have a buffet? This is the opinion of all those who sponsor the annual “Taste of Chicago” event, which lasted from June 24th – July 3rd of 2011. Here, you can sample food from multiple restaurants located variously throughout the city and even local suburbs in order to have your fill of all your favorite kinds of food at once. Not to mention, this is a great way for restaurants to remind customers just how much they want to return for their product.

This year, UIC is joining in on the fun! Instead of eating in the cafeteria, bringing a simple salad, or even visiting the Inner Circle for lunch, satisfy your taste buds with the upcoming “Taste of UIC” event.

Sponsored by the student organizations present on campus, this event serves as a fundraiser, in which tickets are sold in .50 cent increments, carnival style. And not only will these organizations be running the event, but they will also be responsible for preparing the food themselves! What better way to find out more about this school and new food options than to learn from each other, right?

Stop by on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011 on the East Terrace of Student Center East anywhere from 11 AM – 2 PM to purchase tickets and choose the lunch of your choice! Some of the options will most likely include the following:

– Kugel
– Tres Leches Cake
– Sholeh Zard
– Collard Greens
– Palouw
– Pan Dulce
– Baklava
– Challah
– Samosas
– Pastellillos
– Ashe Reshte
– Doklas
– Onigiri
– Vegetable Curry
– Falafel
– Kinafeh
– Red Bean Pudding… for starters!!
