Terminally Ill 15-Year-Old Becomes an Internet Inspiration Through Bucket List

15-year-old Alice Pyne, who has been diagnosed with terminal Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, has become an internet sensation through her blog, “Alice’s Bucket List.”

“Alice’s Bucket List” is a blog dedicated to all of the things Alice wants to do before she dies. So far, there are 17 things on her list, but Alice writes that while “some are possible, some will remain a dream.”

Alice, who lives Ulverston, England, only began her blog on Monday, June 6, but it has since gained over 10,000 followers. On Thursday morning, the hashtag #alicesbucketlist became a trending topic on Twitter, The Guardian reports.

Alice was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma about four years ago, and she recently received news that the cancer is spreading throughout her body, TIME states.

“Anyway, mum always tells me that life is what we make of it, and so I’m going to make the best of what I have, and because there were so many things I still wanted to do, mum suggested that I turn my ideas into a bucket list,” Alice says on her blog.

Some of the goals on Alice’s bucket list are “To have a photo shoot with Milly [her sister], Clarissa, Sammie and Megs,” “To go to Cadbury World and eat loads of chocolate,” and “To have my hair done if they can do anything with it.”

Because Alice cannot travel outside of the U.K., The Guardian reports, she will not be able to fulfill her dream of “going to Kenya.” She will also not be able to become “a dolphin trainer.”

Apart from these, Alice’s bucket list is quickly coming to fruition.

One of her dreams is to meet the band Take That, and on Thursday, June 9, Alice says on her blog, “I’m off to see Take That this weekend, can you believe it?  I am so excited and really can’t wait. I just hope that I don’t get ill or something daft.” Close family friends have also ordered Alice an iPad, fulfilling another wish of hers.

Her first wish, though, is one that cannot be bought: “To make everyone sign up to be a bone marrow donor.”

Since she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Alice has gone through chemotherapy and radiation treatments, The Huffington Post states. Although Alice wanted to have a bone marrow transplant, a match could not be found.

“I’m excited about the things I am going to be doing, but the biggest thing has to be all the people who are joining bone marrow donation schemes because of me,” Alice says on her blog.

According to The Huffington Post, British Prime Minister David Cameron has even pledged his support for Alice’s goal to raise bone marrow donors.

“My blog is to document this precious time with my family and friends, doing the things I want to do,” Alice says on her blog.

“You only have one life … live it!”
