HCUO: What is something that you wish more people knew about you?
Sarah: I am left-handed! Also, apparently there is a girl on campus who looks exactly like me. People tell me all the time, “I saw you at Starbucks today and waved, and you gave me a weird look like you didn’t even know me!” Someone, please take a picture the next time you see her!

HCUO: What is one piece of advice you wish more women would take?
Sarah: I wish more women could be happy with who they are. A girl who is in tune with herself is one I truly admire. I love women like Michelle Obama and Diane Von Furstenberg because they are strong, successful, confident, and feminine as well. I look up to women who have aspirations or goals that they are working towards. Women who carry themselves with confidence will garner more respect than women who aren’t comfortable in their own skin.

HCUO: Describe your ideal date.
Sarah: As long as the guy is interesting and fun to be around, the date will probably be fun wherever it is. I’ve had really enjoyable dates doing things like hiking Spencer’s Butte, and I’ve also had a lot of fun on the standard “dinner-and-a-movie” date. You can’t go wrong bringing a girl flowers at the beginning of a date either. Dates are always a little nerve-wracking, so if you make a mental note of things to talk about during the date beforehand, it will help you later on if there is a lull.

HCUO: What do you like most in a guy?
Sarah: I am a sucker for good guys. A guy who opens the door for me or is chivalrous will definitely win me over! Before we were “Facebook Official” (cheesy, I know), my ex-boyfriend won me over (and got my friends’ approval) by planning a surprise trip to visit me on my birthday during the summer. It was the most amazing thing anyone has ever done for me, and it is something that I will remember always. So charming acts, even if they are silly, can have a huge impact.

HCUO: What do you love most about yourself, and why?
Sarah: I love that I am totally happy and confident in myself. I am naturally pretty confident, and I love showing others how to be confident as well. It’s not necessarily a matter of thinking you’re all that or having a big ego. Real confidence is being secure with yourself and not letting anyone take you down. Even though there are things that bug me in the day-to-day, I try to dissect it and learn from it.

HCUO: What one thing do you wish more men knew about women?
Sarah: Just because we love to watch shows like “Say Yes to the Dress” DOESN’T mean we want to settle down then and there! Haha…actually, I wish men knew that even if women can carry themselves well, they can still be sensitive about things. I guess a fair way of putting it would be “treat others the way you want to be treated.” Thinking about a woman’s feelings will get you a long way. Women will appreciate and respect a guy who takes their feelings into consideration.

HCUO: What is one piece of advice you would give a guy about asking a girl out?
Sarah: I was actually just talking about this earlier today. If a guy is nervous about asking a girl out, ask another girl for advice. She will probably be able to read the situation better and think of the right things to say. Trust me on this! But if a guy can be charming, sweet, and confident, he will definitely be able to win any girl over.

A University of Oregon junior and San Francisco native, Charmaine Ng loves authentic noodle dishes and will always opt for Asian and Italian cuisine when pressed to choose a restaurant. She is a self-proclaimed "noodler," someone who uses her noodle to collaborate with others and bring big ideas to life. She interns for a student-run full-service ad agency, blogs for a wedding and event planning company, and runs the UO Muggle Quidditch League. In her spare time, she sleeps, and sleeps, and sleeps - and dabbles in social media and blogging, her two biggest passions. Her quirkiness isn't apparent at first, but then she starts talking about packaging design and making funny faces, and you wonder what happened to that shy Asian girl you first met. With ambition bursting beyond the campus walls, Charmaine can't wait to graduate and work for an agency, company, or publication in community outreach efforts using social media.
