Weekend Activities Besides Tri-Bar, Part 3

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum/Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum
If you want to blow your mind with some unique and entertaining sites, check our Ripley’s Believe It of Not Museum or Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum.  These famous destinations are surely memorable.

Fashion Shows
If fashion is your passion, buy tickets to shows featured in New York Fashion Week.  If that’s not in your budget, try college-level fashion shows such as Fashion Fusion, which feature F.I.T. and Parsons seniors in a runway showdown!

Trivia Night
Tons of bars and restaurants in Manhattan host trivia nights with awesome prizes or gift cards. There are general trivia quizzes, as well as those based on a specific topic. Get a team together and play.  Even if you don’t win, you’ll enjoy dinner and drinks and a new set of digs.

Board Games
Gather friends together for a good old-fashioned game night! If you don’t have any board games, you can still play games like Pictionary and charades.

Sporting Events
Yankee Stadium is a quick subway ride away and Citifield is just a borough over in Queens.  If basketball is your game, go root on the Knicks or get pumped at a Rangers game!  If you aren’t a fan of New York sports teams, find out when they are playing your home teams and go cheer them on.

Mini Golf
Mini golf is another fun and competitive activity to try out in New York City.  Don’t go with too big a group, though, or you might slow up the groups behind you!

Amusement Park
When the weather warms up, take a mini road trip to Six Flags in New Jersey! Try to go on a weekday if you don’t have class or work, since kids will be in school and the lines won’t be as long.

There are tons of fun, local activities besides Tri-Bar! Be adventurous and try some of them out.  Just make sure to plan out the details in advance because New York City can be very busy and crowded.  For more great ideas, check out www.newyork.timeout.comor www.nycgo.com
