For all of us Jews out there, our diets have recently been very restricted. During Passover we must eschew “the five species of grains”–wheat, rye, oats, barley, and spelt (with the exception being matzo–which is made from wheat but has not been allowed to ferment). In addition, legumes are also forbidden; however, Sephardic and Conservative Jews are more lenient and usually consume rice and legumes during Passover. At this point we’re all asking ourselves so what is allowed? The answer is fruit, potatoes and other root vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, eggs, fish, dairy, and meat (but remember that meat and dairy must be served separately though due to kosher laws). To help myself and my fellow Jews, I have found 10 delicious foods allowing us all to easily keep Passover.
