April Showers Bring May Flowers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

We all know how the saying goes, and so far, it’s been proven true. Gainesville has had its fair share of showers so far this spring season, but don’t let it get you down.

The season’s rain calls for cute and adorable spring gear and after you’ve sung, “Rain, rain, go away,” you can get your flower power on. Though florals for spring may not seem too original, a splash of a floral print can do wonders for lightening up the mood.

Dolce & Gabbana featured floral-patterned clothing in its spring collection during Fashion Week this year. From flower-patterned bras and shirts to trousers and jackets, the designer made it known that flowers are definitely in this season.

Check out some pieces from D&G’s line and some floral pieces at your favorites stores.

Instead of being abstract, as it has been in the past, the flower patterns for this 2011 spring season were either of a bold retro style or had countryside feel. The colors seen on the designer’s looks definitely encompassed what the season is all about: fresh, airy, and colorful.

Here are some affordable flower-patterned pieces from your favorite stores. You can also subtly add some flower power to your outfits with accessories or flower-patterned shoes.

Born in New York, she moved to Orlando, Florida with her family 6 years ago and is now residing in Gainesville, Florida, thus experiencing life in both urban and rural areas. When she isn't watching E!, obsessing over Gossip Girl, working part-time at Hollister, singing along to Taylor Swift's songs, shopping, or baking, Karina enjoys journaling, taking photos around campus, and spending time with her friends and family. Because she's interested in fashion, music and journalism, after college Karina hopes to move back to New York City and land a job at a prominent magazine. (Because magazines aren't dead.) ♥
